Character Study: Lot

Here is what my 14yo daughter wrote about Lot this week:

Genesis 19 talks about Lot. Lot means concealed. He was Abraham’s nephew but they treated each other like brothers. God protected Lot by sending him to Zoar before destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.

God sent two angels to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. They were going to destroy the cities because the people were wicked. Lot left the city with his daughters and wife. God saved Lot because Lot loved Him and He promised Abraham.

Lot showed hospitality. He opened his doors without knowing who they were and what they were doing in Sodom. Lot ignored facts about Sodom. He knew it was a sinful place and he still went there.

Lot showed us that we should make decisions that will help us with our walk with God. He was aware of their sins and ignored it. I need to make decisions that will put me closer to God.

1 Peter 4:9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining.

Character Study: Noah

Here is what my 11yo son wrote about Noah:

Noah was the only righteous man of his time. His job was to build an ark and to put two of every animal on the ark. God protected him by not letting him drown in the ark.

God influenced him so he wouldn’t die in the flood. He built the ark because God told him to and so he wouldn’t die in the flood.

One of the godly character traits he had was obedience when he built the ark. He glorified God because He made him and He is the only God.

Noah’s life impacted everybody’s life alive today because if he would have died in the flood no one would be alive today. The lesson that I learned is that I should be obedient like Noah.

2 Samuel 22:45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.

Psalm 78:4

We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
